EWSETA's Mandate

The Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) is a dynamic force dedicated to empowering South Africa’s energy and water industries with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. Established through the Skills Development Act of 1998, the EWSETA plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of these vital sectors.

Our Mandate: Fueling Growth and Sustainability

The EWSETA’s mandate is to ensure that the energy and water sectors have a steady supply of skilled and competent workers. We achieve this by:

  1. Developing Sector Skills Plans: We identify the skills needs of our sectors and develop strategies to address them effectively.
  1. Facilitating Learnerships and Skills Programs: We design and implement learnerships, apprenticeships, and other skills programs to nurture talent and foster career growth.
  1. Promoting Workplace Skills Plans: We encourage employers to develop and implement comprehensive Workplace Skills Plans, ensuring continuous learning and development within their organizations.
  1. Allocating Grants: We allocate grants to companies and organizations that invest in skills development initiatives, incentivizing and supporting their efforts.
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation: We monitor and evaluate the impact of our initiatives, continuously improving and adapting to meet the evolving needs of our sectors.

Empowering the Future

At the EWSETA, we are committed to driving transformation, promoting employment equity, and creating opportunities for all South Africans. By investing in skills development, we fuel the growth and sustainability of the energy and water sectors, ensuring a brighter future for our nation.

We shape the workforce of tomorrow, one skilled professional at a time.
