Welcome to EWSETA

The mission of the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) is: comprehensive research and a sound understanding of the skills demand and supply forces in its sector; coordinating, facilitating and providing quality assurance for sector relevant skills development programmes for its stakeholders, aligned with stated national skills development priorities; and establishing a sector skills pipeline with a positive impact on government’s economic growth policies, employment creation and the eradication of poverty.

What We Do

Skills
Planning

The role of skills development in addressing South Africa’s triple challenge of poverty, inequality and unemployment requires a coordinated effort involving numerous role players.

Mandatory
Grants

Employers in the energy and water sector who contribute a skills development levy and who have received approval for their annual WSP and ATR are eligible for Mandatory Grant funding.

Discretionary
Grants

Discretionary Grant funding is Board approved and subject to stringent assessment of discretionary grant applications received during an approved discretionary grant application window.

Learning
Programmes

Learning programmes are funded by the EWSETA in accordance with skills development priorities as defined in the EWSETA Sector Skills Plan which is reviewed annually.
